We are experiencing a shift in the pattern of the rapidly evolving fashion media landscape mainly because we are amidst digital revolution that is causing an upheaval across the industry. Readers are migrating online, where information is abundantly available and freely shareable. Readers have matured and so have their choices be it in content or scope of coverage, in other words the Internet has changed the way people create and consume the data.
Talking about the fashion industry, websites and eventually bloggers have taken the prime spot in the media. Bloggers are becoming writers, writers are becoming bloggers and blogs are slowly turning into brands. All this is due to favorable readership that blogs tend to get.
The autocratic nature of fashion, communicated through fashion magazines is now facing the challenge of an oppositional view being put forward by blogs.
Fashion bloggers are usually a one-man army and play various roles; they are writers with independent voices, stylists and photographers. As for me, I am a designer & stylist turned blogger and this journey has been amazingly innovative; from coming up with inspiration to researching and presenting all fulfill my creative instinct.
Bloggers tend to be more genuine and provide with first hand information of what they actually see and how they actually see it. It can be crisp and it can be crass depending on the topics, and most of the times it is followed by comments and information that make the matter more conversational and believable. Blogs provide a quick, fun experience where from one blog one can jump to another to another to make your reading complete.
Blogging in fact has changed the way online fashion enthusiasts perceived and assimilated content. This changing trend has made online readers more aware, and it’s got to be more about experiencing the fashion in a stylistic view rather than focusing entirely on information.
Readers are the prime leads and they can choose to read from various sources and follow the blogs they desire. The same topic is portrayed by various bloggers with a different approach and that can be their unique selling point. For me, it’s the choice of topic backed up immense research for true fashion and style lovers. Its more than just what’s in fashion and trend but also about where the it comes from.
Each blog caters to its own specific kind of audience and one should know how to satisfy the taste buds of their readers. This loyalty establishes and builds a blogger- reader relationship that further translates into a community of people who are an active part of the blog.
Fashion blogging has definitely exploded the online readership by directly encasing and making the overall reading experience worthwhile. One needs to keep in mind the ever-changing readership landscape, and presently fashion blogging is successful in doing that.
