Final moments and voice messages

  • On June 28, 2025, she left home claiming to be visiting Mondipalayam temple. Instead, she parked along the road near Sevur/Chettipudur and consumed pesticide (sulphas tablets) Before dying, she sent seven audio messages to her father pleading that she could no longer bear the mental and physical torture. In one recording, she said:

  • “You and Mom are my world. … I can’t live with him. He and his family are criminals.”

Arrests and aftermath

  • Police have arrested her husband Kavinkumar (28), father-in-law Eswaramurthy (51), and mother-in-law Chithradevi (47) under charges including abetment to suicide and provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act The family held a protest at Avinashi Government Hospital demanding swift justice. The ongoing RDO inquiry will determine further legal action.

Broader impact

  • The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many echoing sentiments like:

“A divorced daughter is always better than a dead daughter.” It highlights that even when affluent families give substantial dowries, continuous harassment still occurs.
